Chrome Industries x Engineered Garments Warsaw 30L Backpack
Chrome Industries, the iconic lifestyle bag brand designed for life on the move, and Engineered Garments limited-run collaboration launching on September 6, 2024. The custom bag, featured on and inspired by vinyl DJs, takes inspiration from both brands’ heritage.
The Chrome Industries x Engineered Garments Warsaw silhouette combines Chrome Industries' rugged stitching and practical street style with Engineered Garments' signature military-inspired utilitarian design elements.
“I’m a longtime fan of Chrome and have been using the original Warsaw to store records for DJ sets, which originally inspired the collaboration,” says Daiki Suzuki, Engineered Garments founder. “I wanted to work with Chrome to thoughtfully customize a bag that could be used both for everyday wear and DJ performances.”
The style reflects a thorough consideration of function, engineered with organization at the forefront, including multiple pockets for headphones and other valuables and a detachable record bag for everyday convenience.
Originally inspired by DJs who seek out vinyl records, the bag can be worn daily by anyone seeking an expertly engineered and thoughtfully designed pack for everyday carry.
“Chrome’s collaboration with Engineered Garments focuses on blending classic, street-sensible style with ultimate function and versatility,” says Chrome product director, Nate Kuder. “In today’s DJ scene, digital audio sources are widely popular, but many DJs still cherish the classic analog style. Our exclusive Warsaw collaboration is perfect for vinyl record storage, laptop transport, and digital equipment organization, making it an ideal choice for DJs who seek the best of both worlds. Plus, its sleek design ensures it's practical for everyday use.”
The Chrome Industries x Engineered Garments Warsaw Bag is available in Black, Navy, and Olive retailing for $150 USD. Launching September 6, 2024, the style will be available exclusively on chromeindustries.com, nepenthesny.com, and in-store at Nepenthes NY for a limited time.
Q&A
Q1: How did the partnership between Engineered Garments and Chrome Industries come about?
A1: I had been using the original Warsaw MD for storing and using records during DJ sets. Therefore, I wanted to customize it so that it could be used both for everyday purposes and DJ performances, which led to this collaboration.
Q2: Why did the team select the Warsaw MD as the hero for this collaboration?
A2: The Warsaw MD was chosen because, despite its streetwise messenger bag design, it was a backpack. Additionally, it was the perfect size to fit 12-inch records.
Q3: How did this particular idea/concept come to life? We were told this was specifically featured out and inspired by Vinyl DJs.
A3: While digital audio sources are mainstream in the DJ scene today, there are still users who prefer an analog DJ style. Therefore, the theme for this backpack was to create something that could store vinyl records, laptops, and digital equipment simultaneously, while also being suitable for everyday use.
Q4:What materials were chosen for this collection, and why were they selected?
A4: Considering durability and functionality, we selected fabric that blends well with EG's everyday wear. Additionally, the leather used as an accent is sourced from wild deer that had to be culled due to damage from wildlife.
Q5: How did you blend Chrome release?
A5: We combined Chrome Industries' rugged stitching and practical street style with Engineered Garments' signature military elements. The product reflects a thorough consideration of usability, featuring multiple pockets and a detachable record bag for everyday convenience.
